In the EU eggs need to be stamped with an egg code.

The first integer codes the production method:

0 = organic egg production
1 = free-range eggs
2 = deep litter indoor housing
3 = cage farming

Next comes the ISO code for the country where the egg was produced (DE/NL/DK/FR, etc).

Next comes the unique registration number of the facility where the egg was produced. This is based on national or or even local schemes.
